Residents in reverted areas receive public deeds
– As an option to purchase their homes –
Under the "First Purchase Option" program, contemplated in Law 190 of December 2020, residents of reverted areas received the public deeds of their homes, by Fernando Paniagua, Executive Secretary of the Administrative Unit of Reverted Assets (UABR). ), of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
Three public deeds delivered to residents in the sectors of Pedro Miguel, Panama City, and the Arco Iris sector, district of Cristóbal, province of Colón. In this way, these residents become owners of the homes they have occupied under lease for more than 25 years, which represents an important achievement for them and their families, Paniagua pointed out.
Currently, approximately 35 applications been received from tenants to apply for the “First Purchase Option, of which progress is being made with the processing of 25 files belonging to the provinces of Panama and Colón. The Department of Projects and Procedures of the UABR, registers more than 390 dwellings in lease status and residents are encouraged to take advantage of the First Purchase Option, to obtain the public deeds that certify them as owners, complying with the requirements established by Law.
